Last Day at Killer Dana, August 1966 - B20
Last Day at Killer Dana: Surfer picket line in Harbor in August 1966 as a construction crane dropped the first breakwater boulder. The legendary surfer, Ron Drummond, can be seen in the front row behind his canoe with which he mastered canoe-surfing with his Newfoundland dog, Surfer, on board. This photo was placed in Dana Point Harbor’s time capsule to be opened in 2016. Last to surf Dana Cove were Leo Chade and Ron Drummond. Above to the left, the Blue Lantern gazebo can be seen.
